Congratulations to Tooele County! HydroBlok, an industry leader in innovative, high-performance waterproof building materials for interior and exterior applications, is expanding its operations and plans to create 200 new jobs and invest $20 million in Tooele County in the coming years.
“We are thrilled to welcome HydroBlok to Tooele County,” said Tooele County Council Chairman Jared Hamner. “HydroBlok’s investment will bring quality career jobs and strengthen our local economy while helping builders meet housing demands.”
EDCUtah supported HydroBlok by facilitating strategic networking opportunities and providing guidance exploring state and local incentives. EDCUtah organized site visits, where we introduced the company to a network of our local partners including Tooele County and Your Employment Solutions.
“We welcome Hydroblok’s expansion in Tooele County and their vision for innovation in construction,” said Scott Cuthbertson, president of EDCUtah. “HydroBlok is driving meaningful change in the building products sector and their commitment to growing in rural Utah advances our state’s construction supply chain and brings 200 high-quality jobs to the region.”
With this expansion, HydroBlok is bringing its manufacturing operations home to Utah, reversing the construction industry’s offshoring trend resulting in at least $13 billion of imported material in 2023 alone. More than just building a new plant, this move is an investment in local innovation, Utah’s workforce, and the future of American manufacturing. By building products in the heart of Utah, HydroBlok is empowering the region’s skilled labor force and ensuring that the company’s success directly benefits the communities where it operates.
“This is more than just onshoring — it’s a commitment to Utah’s future,” said Colin House, CEO of HydroBlok. “By investing in Utah-based manufacturing, we strengthen our local economy, create new jobs, and contribute to Governor Cox’s vision for a thriving, innovative state leading the nation.”
