Match Grants

Types of Grants

  • Special Projects Match Grants help Utah communities with unique projects that foster economic growth and development. Grants are available up to $5,000.
  • Professional Development Match Grants enhance the professionalism and expertise of economic developers in Utah. Grants are available up to $1,500 per person.

Application Timeline

The application period for EDCUtah Community Match Grants starts in July and remains open for approximately one month. Check back here for updates on upcoming grant cycles.

How Do We Raise Funds for Match Grants?

In a very fun way! Every June we hold the Golf for GrantsTournament. EDCUtah investors sponsor holes, foursomes, tee prizes, food and beverage, and more. Net proceeds from the tournament (typically $30,000 to $40,000) fund the next year’s grant cycle.

The Eaglewood Golf Course in North Salt Lake was our Golf for Grants 2024 host. For more information, email Justice Russell.

Grant Policies & Application Guidelines

  • Funding must be used for the specific person and/or purpose outlined and approved in the Community Match Grant application.
  • Funding must be used within the fiscal year associated with the match grant cycle.
  • Applicants must be EDCUtah investors and may include municipalities, counties, organized regional associations, or non-profit entities acting on behalf and in concert with the aforementioned entities, all of whom are EDCUtah investors and are involved with economic development on a local or regional level.
  • Applications from organizations sponsoring a "regional" approach will be considered. However, coordination between the applicant organization and its communities must be demonstrated.
  • Reimbursements are available for one-half the cost of a pre-approved project up to $5,000, or one-half the cost of professional development up to $1,500. Selections are based on the quality of the project and how well the project fits the purpose of the Community Match Grant Program.
  • Reimbursements by EDCUtah will be made when the project is completed. A project is complete when all activities covered by a grant agreement have concluded. EDCUtah requires a written summary of project results which provides measurable outcomes, when possible, and demonstrates local economic development prior to payment, as well as copies of all paid invoices and expenses incurred.
  • Costs for such things as conference travel and lodging, office rent, equipment rental or purchase, advertising, administrative costs, staff salaries, direct retail and travel promotion projects are ineligible. Project costs incurred prior to written notification of approval by EDCUtah are not eligible. EDCUtah is not responsible for project cost overruns.
  • All projects must include acknowledgment of EDCUtah involvement. Such acknowledgment may include inviting EDCUtah to participate in your event, EDCUtah logo placement, linking to EDCUtah’s website, or written credit such as "Produced in partnership with The Economic Development Corporation of Utah." Similar acknowledgments are acceptable with EDCUtah's approval. This requirement may be waived by EDCUtah if requested and satisfactorily explained in the application.
