EDCUtah Research Team 2021 Year in Review

March 14, 2022

EDCUtah’s Research team supports our Business Development and Community Development efforts on a daily basis. Here are some highlights from 2021 activities:

The team completed 498 total requests, with each request taking on average 50 minutes to complete. This is on par with 499 requests in 2020.

Business cost data, business lists in a given geography/industry, and occupation data were the most frequently requested categories.

When it comes to other U.S. states, the top comparative analyses focused on Arizona (38), Texas (34), Washington (29), and California (28).  New York and Georgia (18 each) and Ohio (16) were the top eastern comparative states.

In terms of requests by county, Salt Lake County and Utah County had the most. However Carbon, Tooele, Sevier, Weber, and Cache counties saw significant increases in requests.

“EDCUtah’s research staff is among the best in the nation,” said Matt Hilburn, vice president of research and marketing. “They support our public sector investors to better understand the community assets that companies are interested in, and help client companies learn about Utah’s competitive advantages with clear and concise analysis.”
