Big Agnes Expands Distribution Capabilities and Hires Industry Veteran to Run New DC, Pitchengine
EDCUtah was first introduced to Big Agnes, a major outdoor products company, during EDCUtah’s Global Strategy & Outreach campaign at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market Show in August 2016. The company had previously engaged Rusty Bollow of Newmark Grubb ACRES in site selection, and he encouraged them to meet with Colby Cooley, an EDCUtah Business Development Manager, and Tom Adams, Director of the Utah Office of Outdoor Recreation, to identify ways in which EDCUtah and the State could assist. Following positive feedback on Utah from Osprey Packs, a Colorado-based outdoor products company with a distribution operation in Ogden, Big Agnes began the search for a suitable distribution center in Utah.
Following secondary discussions with EDCUtah and various Wasatch Front communities, Rusty Bollow and Big Agnes narrowed the search to Salt Lake City due to its competitive advantage in trucking and logistics. Lara Fritts, Derek Kitchen, and Peter Makowski, all with Salt Lake City/County, were able to assist EDCUtah and Big Agnes throughout the process.
Big Agnes announced their expansion into Utah, which will create 11 jobs, on November 22nd.
