Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Alternative Supply Chain Information
Per the Unified Command on medical supplies at Utah Department of Health and State Purchasing, these are the first four items that Utah manufacturers could start making today to support the fight against COVID-19.
Please share broadly with your networks. Manufacturers with a proposal should send it to Roger Edwards firstname.lastname@example.org at the DoH, cc to Chris Hughes email@example.com at State Purchasing.
- Polypropylene mesh to make face masks: It provides the best anti-microbial protection (short of an N95 mask). Trying to source 5,000+ KGs of polypropylene mesh/surgical wrap in large quantities to make medical grade face masks
- Sanitizer @ 60% alcohol or higher: Can be gel or liquid. See CDC guidelines.
- Isopropanol or ethanol: raw material for sanitizer which may become a bottleneck.
- Face shields: must extend past sides of face and below jawline. Avoid latex in straps/attachment where possible.
We’ll continue to send specs as we get them from the DoH Unified Command.
