Have breakfast on us and enjoy one of the Summit Speaker Series of 2019 on Wednesday, August 7th.
The session is free but requires a RSVP. Register here.
Based at the University of Utah, the Rocky Mountain Center for Occupational and Environmental Health (RMCOEH) is a nationally recognized resource for Outdoor industry manufacturers, distribution centers, and service providers such as outfitters. Come to the August 7 Summit Speaker Series session to learn how to improve safety and efficiency on the factory floor, the loading bay, or even the river put-in.
RMCOEH is one of 18 Education and Research Centers (ERCs) across the country that are partially funded by the federal government. In
2018, federal evaluators gave the Utah center the highest score in the country, topping the ratings of ERCs based at Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University, and others evaluated in the same funding cycle.
RMCOEH director Kurt T. Hegmann, MD, MPH and his staff will take us through an overview of the center and some case studies. RMCOEH services – most of which are free – can range from analyzing and redesigning workflow on the assembly line to improving staff training to minimize work-related injuries. The Center, which works with organizations large and small, also offers continuing education classes to inform workers about best practices, on-site “walk though” surveys, and other services.
To round out the session, we’ll spend a few minutes on the latest trends and research findings, such as the relationship between leisure time exercise, low back pain and effects on lost time at work.
The Office of Outdoor Recreation is excited to continue our partnership with Snowsports Industries America (SIA), the Economic Development Corporation of Utah (EDCUtah) and the Utah Outdoor Association (UOA) to put on the SUMMIT SPEAKER SERIES. This speaker series will continue to dive into outdoor industry issues through education and insider access to industry experts 6 times a year.
