2005-06 - EDCUtah Project Activity Increased 26 Percent to 196 (20 of 30)
2005-06 marked the first year of the new EDCUtah and GOED partnership, resulting in record breaking results for Utah’s corporate recruitment efforts. EDCUtah saw a dramatic increase in project activity, up 26 percent from the previous year, with a 100 percent increase in corporate site visits. The organization ended the fiscal year with a total of 196 open projects and 34 project wins. These wins represented an all-time record of 5,636 committed jobs and $3.4 billion in committed capital investment.
Of the 34 wins, five represented corporate headquarters that chose to make Utah their home, including Rossignol, IM Flash, Pacific Crest Research, Sora and Mountain Sports International. In addition to these headquarters announcements, companies such as Varian Medical Systems, Autonomous Solutions, Viracon, and Cephalon announced plans to do business in Utah. The majority of announcements during the 2005-06 fiscal year came from companies within the Governor’s Office of Economic Development’s (GOED) targeted industry clusters, including Information Technology, Manufacturing, and Life Sciences.
