1990-91 - Fortune Magazine Named Salt Lake Metropolitan Area 'Best City for Business' (6 of 30)
To celebrate EDCUtah's 30th anniversary, the 30 Years, 30 Highlights series details major milestones in Utah's economic development.
In 1990 the Utah Economic Development Corporation rebranded as The Economic Development Corporation of Utah (EDCUtah). Now operating as EDCUtah, the organization focused on new ways to market the state. Efforts were made to tell the Utah story to national publications and to get the word out about how Utah was the best state for business. In 1990, for the first time, Fortune Magazine named the Salt Lake Metropolitan area “Best City for Business.” As part of these marketing efforts, EDCUtah hosted Fortune Magazine Editor Geoffrey Colvin for a visit to the state to see first hand the success the state was having.
