Fox File #38 "2017 Year in Review"
The Fox Files is a weekly message from EDCUtah President & CEO Theresa Foxley.
Happy New Year to our friends and stakeholders! I hope you enjoyed spending time with your loved ones this holiday season. I took the time to reflect on the past year. I appreciated having a few extra days to think about how grateful I am for the opportunity to work on behalf of #teamUtah.
2017 was a terrific year for our organization and for the State of Utah.
We made some key personnel moves in the organization, placing our teammates into roles for which they are well suited. Additionally, we hired for several new key roles. The team has great chemistry. They are confident in one another, trust each other, and take great pride in the work they do. Working with this group of economic development professionals has been a great highlight of my year.
We completely overhauled how we communicate with our stakeholders, delivering information more regularly and in more digestible formats. I hope you like it and our emphasis on transparency and clear and concise communication. We also enjoy hearing from you! So please make sure you’re in regular contact with us.
2017 was a great year for economic development preparedness. Our Public Development department is firing on all cylinders and has become a trusted source of information, strategy, and advice for communities large and small.
We’re on our way to taking the Mega Sites program to the next level, having certified our first site in Elberta, Utah this fall. We are grateful for the Governor’s confidence in this program and his inclusion of it in his 2018 budget. We look forward to working with his team and the Utah State Legislature to formalize this program so it can be deployed to attract transformative projects throughout Utah.
We have engaged in 3 best practices exchanges with other markets, each of which has validated that we have the appropriate mix of “economic development preparedness” and proactive marketing as part of our annual program.
We put together a world-class response and ran a flawless process for the largest corporate recruitment project in history.
And finally, we’ve strengthened our relationships with various economic development organizations throughout the state, including our Chambers of Commerce, our transportation planning divisions, cities, counties, and statewide economic development groups. #teamUtah is strong and has key players from Logan to St. George. Thanks for letting us be a part of it! We look forward to making 2018 a great year by working side by side with you.
