Despite a recession and the war in the Persian Gulf, job growth in Salt Lake County exceeded each quarter’s goals. The Utah Economic Development Corporation (UEDC) continued work on Target '94 and the goal to create 44,000 jobs in Utah through corporate relocation and expansion efforts in five years.
According to the Utah Department of Employment Security, employment increased by 13,500 jobs in Salt Lake County. Statewide, employment rose by 28,700 jobs.
