Event Summary - ECONOMIX
EDCUtah recently had the opportunity to attend ECONOMIX, a conference for economic developers and site selectors. The conference held classes specifically designed to help economic developers and site selectors build relationships and establish good processes for doing this kind of work. “It was a great chance to meet with site selectors and economic developers from around the county,” says Max Backlund, a Business Development Manager at EDCUtah, “Economic development relies heavily on relationships, and these conferences are a good way to make connections and build relationships that will help us to address the challenges we face in Utah.”
ECONOMIX was also a great opportunity to get an inside look at the process of site selectors. Most people already had familiarity with Utah and our key industries, which shows that our reputation precedes us. The conference provided EDCUtah an excellent opportunity to learn what they’re doing well, and find areas to improve. “The more exposure we get to good ideas and new takes on process the more we can refine what we’re doing and how we go about recruiting new companies to the State,” states Backlund. Overall, Economix offered an opportunity to learn from site selectors and other communities, while building on Utah’s reputation as a destination for business.
