EDCUtah Releases FY 15-16 Annual Report
SALT LAKE CITY (Oct. 13, 2016) – EDCUtah’s Annual Report is now available online. 2015-2016 has been one of the most successful years for the Economic Development Corporation of Utah (EDCUtah) in its 29-year history. The release of the EDCUtah Annual Report highlights the commitment of companies to create or retain nearly 15,000 jobs and invest close to $1 billion dollars in capital investment, all stemming from 20 project wins.
Also in FY16, EDCUtah hosted recruiting missions, tradeshows and events in seven US states and two European countries. The Events team strengthened relationships with key site selectors and industry promoters, while Global Strategy & Outreach added 68 new companies to the Business Development project pipeline.
In addition, the company website, www.edcutah.org, was redesigned to provide companies and site selectors the information they have expressed is crucial for determining if Utah is the right place for expansion. In harmony with the new website, EDCUtah’s Research Team redesigned and published six industry profiles, focusing on targeted industries in Utah.
EDCUtah is also proud to announce the winners of its annual economic development awards.
- Derek Miller, President & CEO of World Trade Center Utah was selected to receive the Nick Rose Award for Leadership in Economic Development. This award is given to a private sector individual that has demonstrated exceptional dedication to EDCUtah, and economic development throughout the state.
- John Curtis, Mayor of Provo City was this year’s choice for the Thayne Robson Award for Leadership in Economic Development. This award is given to a public sector individual that has demonstrated exceptional dedication to EDCUtah, and economic development throughout the state.
- A new award created this year is the Cornerstone in Economic Development Award, which has been given to City Creek Reserve. This award is given to associations, organizations or developments making a substantial economic development impact in the state.
It has been a very successful year for EDCUtah, the State of Utah and EDCUtah investors. In the words of Board Chairman Dean Liukart, and President and CEO, Jeff Edwards, “We thank you for your ongoing support and look forward to an even brighter future for our organization and for our state.”
