Research Weekly - Utah Employment Growth
St. George, Utah deserves some serious kudos. From August 2015 to August 2016, St. George had the largest percentage increase in employment of any of the 381 metro areas in the nation at 7.1%. St. George is also the 17th fastest growing metro area in the nation for population, with a 2.5% increase from 2014 to 2015.
The Ogden-Clearfield metro area was 10th fastest at 4.6%, the Provo-Orem metro area was 11th at 4.5%, and the State of Utah as a whole was 4th among all 50 states at 3.3%.
Flourishing job growth is critical to attracting quality jobs and capital investment to a state. It is a key metric when considering economic health. To have three metro areas leading the nation in employment growth, and the state as a whole in the top five, signifies that Utah is poised for continued economic growth.
