Fox File #5 "Around the Table"

The Fox Files is a weekly message from EDCUtah President & CEO Theresa Foxley.

One of the things I have enjoyed most in my new role is getting to know our members. Fortunately, our membership believes in our organization’s mission and wants to help us succeed.

We recently held a new investor orientation to welcome our new members into the fold. We provided information on who we are, what we do, and how we do it. In turn, our new members shared what makes them unique and what they are hoping to gain from their affiliation with EDCUtah.

We asked our newest municipal member, Grand County, what three things work well in the County, what the top three goals of the community are, and what the County's biggest economic development challenge is. I loved learning about the County’s goals to support USU Moab, diversify the economy, attract R&D operations for outdoor products companies, and the County’s emphasis on housing — a common theme amongst many of our public sector members.

We asked S Power, The Women Tech Council, the Natural History Museum of Utah, Terracon, and Welch Equipment Company how their business is unique, what interesting information they could provide to a company thinking of moving to Utah, and what they want out of their EDCUtah membership. All of our members bring a fresh perspective to us and have something to offer expanding companies. Further, all of our new members expressed a desire to help grow the overall economy in the State and to contribute in some meaningful way. Hearing about the existing connections between our members and watching them form new relationships was a rewarding byproduct of our orientation.

As our team is in your community or interacting with your business, please feel free to share answers to those same questions with us. Having that knowledge will make us more effective in what we do.
