Event Summary - SIA Snow Show
Utah was well represented at the Snowsports Industries America (SIA) Snow Show in Denver, Colorado which provided great potential for growth in Utah’s outdoor products industry. The trade show itself lasted four days followed by two days of on-mountain demos. EDCUtah was excited to be debuting a new booth backdrop for this event, advertising the 29,214 skiable acres and 10 ski resorts within one hour of Salt Lake International Airport, and provided an attention-grabbing ski scene for attendees at the show. The Snow Show generated six projects with outdoor companies and provided one new lead for a potential future project.
EDCUtah was invited to attend the event by SIA, who EDCUtah recently helped to relocate their headquarters to Park City, Utah. EDCUtah’s role at the Snow Show centered around promoting the outdoor products industry in Utah in partnership with the cities who were in attendance alongside EDCUtah, Salt Lake City, Ogden City, and Park City.
“The State of Utah has long considered the outdoor products industry to be a key factor in the local economy, and one that has experienced immense growth over the last half decade,” says Colby Cooley, Business Development Manager at EDCUtah, “Exhibiting at the Snow Show allows us to showcase Utah to the industry at large, and to share all the incredible reasons to locate an outdoor company in the state.”
The show also provides great insight into the industry, including new product awareness, public involvement in western states, and overviews on market trends. In attendance with EDCUtah were Sara Mees with Ogden City, Peter Makowski with Salt Lake City, and Jonathan Weidenhamer with Park City. Partnering with EDCUtah provided these cities an opportunity to show support to existing companies located within their municipalities that were exhibiting at the show, as well as getting to make the initial contact with potential projects. The creation of six new projects is beyond expectations, and these three cities were thrilled to be a part of such a productive campaign.
“It’s great to work with Utah’s city representatives,” says Mike Flynn, Chief Operating Officer of EDCUtah, “Not only is it an excellent opportunity for Utah cities, but the companies we contact appreciate their outreach and involvement as well.”
EDCUtah plans to attend the SIA Snow Show next year and looks forward to continuing to work closely with SIA around growing the outdoor products industry in Utah in the future.
