Event Summary - CES Tradeshow
Nick Dall, manager of the Global Strategy and Outreach mission at EDCUtah, was recently invited to attend the CES Tradeshow in Las Vegas, Nevada by the West Coast Entrepreneurial (WCE) Alliance. CES is a show that highlights game-changing technology and the latest trends. The WCE Alliance was working with several technology companies located in Normandy, France that are actively looking for roads into the U.S. market. WCE Alliance invited representatives from California, Oregon, Washington and Utah to join them at the tradeshow. “It was an honor to be included in that mix,” says Dall, “we look forward to strengthening these working relationships moving forward.”
It was truly a unique invite for EDCUtah. Of the 175,000 people in attendance, only 200 were government related officials from either state, local, or national levels. EDCUtah was one of these 200 attendees, which provided an opportunity for Utah to expand its efforts internationally due to the variety of companies in attendance. During the tradeshow, EDCUtah connected with dozens of software and IT companies, during which they discovered that people were familiar with Salt Lake and the big name companies, such as Adobe and Qualtrics, but were less aware of Utah’s thriving startup industry. Most were uninformed that Utah has a booming technology-focused industry. As a result, EDCUtah has made goals to make Utah more widely known through research, marketing and global strategy.
The trade show was an incredible opportunity for EDCUtah to see what’s new in the technology sector. Overall, it was a success for the state, not only to be able to connect with the Normandy companies, but to see what is growing and to see what will be the focus in the future of technology. EDCUtah, as well as GOED and the World Trade Center Utah, look forward to working with the Normandy companies and the West Coast Entrepreneurial Alliance Initiative.
