Research Weekly - The Growth of Silicon Slopes

According to CBRE’s annual Tech-Thirty report, which analyzes the 30 leading tech markets in the U.S. and Canada, “Salt Lake City transitioned from an ‘emerging market’ to a ‘growth leader,’ meaning it saw above-average high-tech software / services job growth and above-average office market performance . . .”

Salt Lake City’s high-tech software / services industry grew 14.1% from 2013-2015, also feeding office market rent growth at 12.4%. This placed Salt Lake City’s tech job growth at 18th, beating out Los Angeles, Boston, Portland, and many other cities with a prominent tech presence.

This growth has led the Wasatch Front to become known as Silicon Slopes, with such successful home-grown technology companies as Qualtrics, Domo, and InsideSales.com, bringing tech-talent from all over the world to the state. With continued focus on tech talent development and recruitment, Silicon Slopes stands as a growth leader in technology and an ideal place for any tech company looking for quality talent as well as cheaper rent than found in Silicon Valley.
